Blogging Is Beyond Good for Business

If you do not have a blog, run, do not walk to your nearest technical person to have one immediately linked to your existing website.  Now, you may be asking “Why?”

The answer to that question is very simple:

Traffic generates sales leads leading to increase sales

HubSpot in the fall of 2012 released a study of 7,000 businesses specific to their content marketing actions and revealed the following:

  • Websites with 51-100 pages generate 48% more traffic than companies with 1 to 50 pages
  • B2B and B2C companies with 101 to 200 pages generate 2.5 times more sales leads than those with 50 or fewer pages
  • Small businesses that blog 15 or more times per month receive 5 times more traffic than companies that do not blog
  • Small businesses with 1 to 10 employees tend to receive the biggest traffic gains when they post more articles
  • Firms that increase blogging from 3 to 5 times per month to 6 to 8 times per month almost double their sales leads
  • B2B companies that blog only 1 to 2 times per month generate 70% more sales leads than those who don’t blog
  • Companies with over 200 blog articles have 5 times the leads than those with 10 or fewer blog posts.

Are you now seeing the bigger picture when it comes to blogging is good for business?

From a personal perspective, I established my blog www.increase-sales-coach.com on February 1, 2010 and here are my results:

2009 average monthly unique visitors = 2,808
2010 average monthly unique visitors = 4,073
2011 average monthly unique visitors = 7,203
2012 average monthly unique visitors = 9,492 (as of October 2012)

Traffic is currently increasing by 10% annually and the marketing goal in 2013 is to consistently have a minimum of 10,000 unique visitors.

Internet sales of eBooks and others products along with my executive coaching engagements for small business owners and executives have also increased over the same time frame.

To stand out and attract attention in that crowed (estimated to be 644 million websites according to Netcraft as of March 2012) cyberspace sea of all those other gray suits (think websites), a blog allows you to be the Red jacket where you have a far greater chance of being noticed.  Of course this means your blogs are search engine friendly by using proven searchable words and you provide quality and relevant content.

Now if you are thinking you cannot write, that is Okay as there are a plethora of ghost writers just waiting for you to call them. However, what I share when I work with clients or speak about content marketing “is the more you write, the better you think and the better you think, the more you write.”

Writing can be your elevator to more traffic, greater loyal customers and increase sales.

So if you have not picket up the phone to call that web designer person, start dialing and establish your blog before you lose any more business.
